The right routine, on the first try

Attendo · 15 September 2026

Sweden's largest listed elderly care provider is piloting Hippocampus in two care homes. Earlier AI tools returned similar routines. This one returns the right version, with the page it came from.

The problem

Attendo Way is the operating and governance knowledge behind every Attendo home: routines, guidelines, governing documents, process descriptions. Hundreds of documents, revised continuously. A care worker on a night shift needs the current routine, not a similar one from last year. Search returned lists. Earlier AI tools returned confident summaries with no way to check them.

The pilot

June to August 2026, two care homes, 352 documents from Attendo Way. Staff asked questions in their own words: which routine applies, how a guideline should be read, where a governing document says what. Weekly 30-minute check-ins, then a final evaluation workshop.

Hippocampus is the memory layer underneath. Every answer resolves to a named document, section and page, so a care worker can open the source and confirm it in seconds.

What changed

  • Right answer, right version. Staff located the applicable routine without scrolling through document lists.
  • 50 to 90% fewer tokens per answer than the AI tools Attendo had tried before, at equal accuracy. Cheaper to run, faster to read.
  • Every answer traceable to source. Safe care depends on finding the current version, and being able to prove it.

What's next

The evaluation covers usability, search quality, time saved and readiness for a wider rollout across Attendo's homes.
